Visual Simulation Attribute Connector & Visual Simulation attribute message.
Virtual prototyping of ubiquitous computing systems and services raises challenges with respect to the interoperation of simulation assets at scale. One of the barriers to adoption of networked 3D graphics in virtual prototyping simulations is the high skill requirement for developers who construct interoperable networked multimedia technology. Several communication techniques for networked visual simulation exist, though these technologies lack the flexibility, and re-usability required to simplify interoperation with the myriad of existing and future simulation systems and their interoperations with both real and virtual simulation objects and devices.
This work specifically tackles support for interactive 3D graphics in virtual prototyping simulations, though is generally applicable to all frame-rate based simulation visualisation services. The problem area explored is support for generic message transfer between interactive 3D graphics and collaborating components.
The development contributed by this work (VSAC/VSAM) provides a high-level connection facility and management layer that supports run-time selection and configuration of communication services and connection facilities.
